New local bus service benefits the disabled

Lexington and Buena Vista residents now have access to low-cost public transportation within their communities. The Maury Express, a bus service run by the nonprofit Roanoke Area Dial-A-Ride, now services each community with a single bus. The buses operate on a one-hour route, six days per week. Each ride costs 50 cents, which can be paid in exact change or with a bus token. While anyone can use this new transit system, local organizations that provide services for senior citizens and the disabled say the Maury Express will benefit their communities.
