Students speak out against eating disorders

Eating disorders are three times more prevalent at Washington and Lee than at other colleges and universities, according to a recent survey conducted by the National College Health Assessment. Following National Eating Disorder Awareness Week, Active Minds, an organization devoted to promoting awareness of mental health disorders, hosted a week-long event aimed at educating W&L students on anorexia, bulimia and binge eating. The week was headlined by a panel of students still struggling with or in recovery from these disorders. Two of the panelists share their stories.
