Washington and Lee University celebrated National Girls and Women in Sports Day on Tuesday during the women's basketball game versus Hollins University. It's been 39 years since Congress passed Title IX to create equal opportunities for women in education and sports. While only a small crowd of students, faculty and community members came out to watch the game, the athletes who attended appreciated the gesture.
